Time for mega lash, what a day, AMAZING. Starting on the Royal Yacht Squadron line for the last time this 2010 Cowes Week and once again steamed of into the lead to be second around the first mark. The wind was a force five (average 22knts) and Mongoose literally flew leading the fleet around the Solent. 10knts of boat speed surfing down waves, some big broaches, one broken halyard and second across the finish line (by 4 seconds) to take the win on our handicap. This left us with fifteen points a piece with the French and them winning on count back (they have three firsts to our two) – so the class win goes to them but an AWESOME cowes week second for Mongoose Stalking Prey.
Lash has taken its toll and even though the champagne has been flowing we’re not yet up to speed. But as Sam Seagull said, ‘Lets smash some beer, and smash up Cowes’ – Infernos we’re comming and like Mongoose we’re going to be bloody steeming.
A quick thank you to Jenny Snowball who has been our lovely hostess this week and Patch Snowball our finanical backer without whom none of this could happen. You’ll be happy to know that as I write Tom is piciking up a win trophy in the RYS.
Drink hard, sail fast.
Just for Andre – there’s massive chop coming
Cowes 2010 DONE.
